Preference for control investments or investments where we represent the first outside investor
The franchises that achieve the best health care outcomes often have the ingredients in place to support greater scale
Geographical focus in regions where demand for child-focused health care services far outstrips supply
Center Back Capital identifies and invests in best in class child-focused health care enterprises in Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia. Child-focused health care is a highly specialized sector, characterized by acute underlying demand that typically far outstrips the supply of high quality services in our target geographies. At the same time, the barriers to entry for operators of child-focused health care franchises are commensurate with both the consequences of failure -- and the enduring social impact of success.
We have a preference for control investments or hands-on minority growth investments where we represent the first outside capital for the franchise. We specialize in orienting and supporting management teams for a step change in growth.
Center Back Capital was founded by Bert Kwan, a seasoned private equity professional who has led over $4 billion of growth equity and control investments across Asia and the United States. Previously, Bert was a partner at one of the leading Asia-focused private equity firms and with the principal investment arm of a leading emerging markets bank. He began his private equity career in 1997 with Lehman Brothers in New York.
Bert's investment experience spans four decades and includes successful investments in pediatric and maternity clinics, family medicine practices, mental health support franchises, and pioneering medical device manufacturers.
